bird play, or, How the Young Ornithologist Society of East Athens Finally Defeated the Junior Ornithologist Society of West Athens, or, How Four Friends Finally Became Birds is about four 12 year old birdwatchers at their last year of summer camp, The Young Ornithologist Society of East Athens. We follow them as they go into the woods to participate in a competition against their rival camp, and as they dare to venture beyond the blackberry bush, where they find the kingdom of the birds, and are forever changed by the encounter.
bird play is about being so obsessed with your favorite thing that it takes over your whole being and the stupid things we say as kids that we can never ever take back—even if they keep us up at night for the rest of our lives.
